Located in beautiful Carroll County, Full Moon Farm is a family-owned and operated full-service equine facility. Convenient to Eldersburg, Westminster, Pikesville, and Ellicott City, the farm encompasses 80+ acres.
We have a 60′ x 240′ indoor arena, allowing us to offer year-round lessons. In addition, we have two outdoor arenas– a 80′ x 160′ lighted ring and a 240′ x 400′ show/schooling ring. We have two cross country courses– Our main course includes a water complex, bank complex, ditches, trakheners, and obstacles from Starter through Training level. Our Pre-Starter course is in an enclosed field, making it a great place for less experienced riders to learn.
Our lesson program focuses on providing a safe and enjoyable atmosphere in which everyone can learn English riding skills and horsemanship. We have the instructors, horses, and facilities to accommodate all levels– from beginners to international competitors. We are home to a wide variety of riders– from those that ride once a week to those that ride every day and compete across the country.

Karen and her husband Stephen have owned and operated Full Moon Farm at its Finksburg location since 1994. Karen served as the the Vice Chair of the Maryland Horse Industry Board from 2009 until 2024. She currently serves as President of the Full Moon Farm Eventing Foundation (FMFEF).
Karen has a BS in Animal Science from Purdue University and an MS in Comparative Animal Nutrition from Michigan State. She helped to establish Purdue’s first intercollegiate riding team and participated on the horse judging teams at PU and MSU both as a competitor and coach.
Stephen works full-time as a farrier alongside his wonderful crew. When he’s not busy shoeing horses, he trains under the superb tutelage of his wife, Karen, and competes in Horse Trials across the East Coast. He currently serves as a board member of the Full Moon Farm Eventing Foundation (FMFEF).
Stephen has a BA in Equine Studies from Salem University and a Horse Master’s certificate from Meredith Manor. He is a graduate of Oklahoma’s Farrier College and is certified by the International Association of Professional Farriers.
Christine began riding as a kid, and was lucky enough to have her own horse at home. She initially joined Full Moon Farm as a rider, and in July 2020, she became a member of the staff! Christine enjoys eventing and competing in various horse shows.
Christine is an active member of USEF, USEA, and USHJA. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Full Moon Farm Eventing Foundation (FMFEF).
Christine has a Bachelor’s in Mathematics & Secondary Education from Loyola University of Maryland and an MA in Administration & Supervision from Notre Dame of Maryland University.
David joined Full Moon as a member of the family, meaning it was only a matter of time before he became a member of the staff!
A former eventer, David now specializes in dressage. He is an accomplished Grand Prix dressage rider, and has served as Chef d’equipe for the Canadian Young Rider Dressage team. Along with his wife & business partner, Woodge, he also runs FMF Equestrian.
David is available to teach lessons to boarders who wish to improve their dressage skills with their equine partners.
Originally from Virginia, Casey attended Virginia Tech. Her early days of riding were in the hunter & jumper rings, but she later stepped into the world of dressage and eventing.
Casey teaches riders of all different levels, and loves to share her knowledge of equine biomechanics.
Virginia is no stranger to FMF– she has ridden here since she was a little kid. She competed on our NCEL & IEA teams, and has evented up to the Modified level. She is now working with her fiery redheaded mare, Chopra.
Virginia teaches beginner riding lessons and coaches our JEL Team.
Katrina has been riding her entire life— she grew up on a horse farm in Mississippi and her mom was an eventing coach.
She has competed through Novice in recognized shows, was a C3 in Pony Club, and has competed in many USPC national championships. She is currently eventing at the Starter level with the incredible pony Buster.
Katrina currently serves as a board member of the Full Moon Farm Eventing Foundation (FMFEF). She is passionate about sharing her love and knowledge of horses with anyone she can!
Zellie grew up riding at Full Moon Farm and competed on our NCSSEL, NCEL, and IEA equitation teams. She won the Baltimore County Children’s Medal Finals, Josey Mohler Medal Finals, Virginia Horse Show Association Children’s Medal Finals, and the Southwest Virginia Children’s and Adult Medal Finals.
Zellie went on to compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) for Bridgewater College, where she won an individual National Championship in 2017. She is currently eventing at Novice with her gelding Fu.
Zellie coaches our IEA team and is available to teach lessons and clinics to those who wish to improve their equitation skills.
Woodge grew up at Full Moon Farm, with her mother (Karen) as her first instructor. She and her horse Captain Jack have competed internationally together up through the 5* level.
After training for a year together in Germany, Woodge and Captain Jack returned home to live and train at Full Moon’s Goose Barn, which is now home to Woodge & David’s FMF Equestrian. Woodge is currently training a number of talented young event horses, including Cash Point.
Woodge is available to teach lessons and clinics to those who wish to improve their eventing skills.
Ashley joined Full Moon Farm in 2017, with no horse experience beyond annual childhood trail rides. Since then, she has gone from helping in the office a few hours a week to running the barn full-time. From scheduling lessons to serving as show secretary at our Horse Trials, Ashley has a hand in just about everything around the farm. If she’s not taking care of the horses or the office, she can be found training her mini Oliver (the cutest horse in the world!) or learning how to ride with her mare Tilly.
Ashley has a BA in Psychology and Spanish from Goucher College. She currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Full Moon Farm Eventing Foundation (FMFEF).
The majority of Emily’s training and coaching has been at Full Moon Farm, starting from the age of 8. Emily rode for the Susquehanna University equestrian team and competed in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) from 2011-2015. She served as Captain for her team from 2012-2013.
Emily started teaching at Full Moon Farm at the beginning of 2021, and works mostly with beginner riders to help strengthen their core skills. She is currently eventing at Beginner Novice with Meatball.
Grace grew up at Full Moon Farm, with her mother (Karen) as her first instructor. Grace is an experienced eventer and polo player.
Grace graduated from University of South Carolina Aiken in 2021, and just graduated from her Master’s program at American University in May 2023. She currently serves as a board member of the Full Moon Farm Eventing Foundation (FMFEF).
Grace is available to teach lessons and clinics to those who wish to improve their eventing and equitation skills.
Adam has been part of the Full Moon family for a decade. He can just about always be found somewhere on the property, whether he’s mucking paddocks or fixing something the horses have broken!
